President Mahama Directs increase in numbers in ongoing Security Services Recruitment.
President John Dramani Mahama has announced a major expansion in the ongoing recruitment for Ghana’s security services. The directive comes after a high-level meeting with the Heads of Security Agencies, the Minister for the Interior, and the Acting Minister for Defence to review the recruitment process.
Following the briefing, President Mahama instructed that the number of personnel to be recruited across the various security agencies be doubled from twenty thousand (20,000) to forty thousand (40,000) over a four-year period. This decision aims to strengthen national security and ensure that the country has sufficient personnel to meet evolving security challenges.

The President also stressed the importance of transparency and fairness in the recruitment process, directing the Heads of Security Agencies to uphold integrity and accountability at every stage of selection.
Present at the meeting were senior officials, including the Chief of Staff, Secretary to the President, Senior Presidential Advisor on Governmental Affairs, National Security Coordinator, Inspector General of Police, Director General of Prisons, Director General of the Fire Service, Comptroller-General of the Ghana Immigration Service, and the Director General of the Narcotics Control Commission. Their presence underscores the government’s commitment to implementing the recruitment expansion efficiently and responsibly.
