Former President of NAGRAT urges Government to implement unified salary structure.
Angel Carbonu, former President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), has urged government to take decisive steps toward implementing a unified salary structure for public sector workers.
Speaking on the issue, Carbonu recalled that the introduction of a unified income system formed part of the commitments made by the President at the beginning of his administration. He indicated that many workers within the public sector continue to look forward to the fulfillment of that pledge.
According to him, the proposed reform is essential for promoting fairness and consistency in the public sector wage structure. He explained that concerns about disparities in salaries across different public institutions have persisted for years, making the need for a more harmonized payment system increasingly important.

Carbonu further noted that a unified salary structure would place workers across all levels of government service under a single framework. In his view, such an arrangement would help ensure that the salary system operates in a more transparent and balanced manner.

He explained that under this system, salary reviews or adjustments made at the highest levels of public service would also have a corresponding effect on workers occupying lower ranks. This, he believes, would contribute to a more equitable distribution of income within the public sector.
The former NAGRAT president therefore encouraged authorities to expedite the process of implementing the unified salary structure, emphasizing that such a move would strengthen fairness, improve confidence among public sector workers, and enhance transparency in the salary administration framework.
Many public sector employees, including teachers and other government workers, continue to monitor developments surrounding the proposed reform, with the expectation that concrete measures will be taken to introduce the unified salary system in the near future.
