WAEC Releases Final 2026 BECE Timetable for School and Private Candidates.
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the final timetable for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for both school and private candidates.
The examination will begin on Monday, 4 May 2026, and end on Monday, 11 May 2026.
Candidates will write both essay and objective papers for each subject at one sitting without a break. The timetable also provides important instructions regarding differences in duration and special arrangements for candidates with visual and hearing impairments.

English Language)
•Essay (Paper 2) — 9:00 a.m. – 10:10 a.m. (1 hour 10 minutes)
•Objective (Paper 1) — 10:10 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. (50 minutes)
Religious and Moral Education
•Essay (Paper 2) — 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. (1 hour)

Important Notes for Candidates
Both papers for each subject must be taken at one sitting without a break.
Difference in duration: If the time indicated on the question paper differs from the time on the timetable, the time stated on the question paper should be followed.
Extra time for candidates with impairments: Candidates with visual or hearing impairments will be given an additional 50% of the time allocated to other candidates.
