TTAG Announces Nationwide Demonstration Over Teacher Recruitment Backlogs.
The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG), through its National Secretariat, has formally served notice to the Ghana Police Service of a coordinated nationwide demonstration set for Friday, 24th April 2026, across all forty-nine public Colleges of Education.
The action is aimed at amplifying growing concerns among teacher trainees over the restricted recruitment intake, particularly against the backdrop of an increasing backlog of trained teachers awaiting placement. TTAG maintains that all on-campus demonstrations will be strictly regulated, confined within college premises, and conducted in a disciplined and orderly manner.
In a parallel move to escalate visibility, the Association has scheduled a national protest in Accra, where participants will converge at Independence Square, advance to the Ministry of Finance, and culminate at the Jubilee House, placing the issue firmly within the national spotlight.
TTAG has consequently called on the Ghana Police Service to deploy the necessary security architecture by engaging Regional and Divisional Commands to safeguard participants and preserve public order throughout the exercise. The Association reaffirmed its commitment to constructive engagement and seamless collaboration to ensure a hitch-free process.
The Secretariat expressed strong confidence that, with effective coordination and adequate security presence, the demonstrations will proceed peacefully while decisively drawing attention to the employment concerns confronting trained teachers.
