UCC Opens 2026 Sandwich Admission for M.Ed and MPhil Top-Up Programmes in Mathematics and ICT

The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has announced admission into its 2026 Sandwich Programmes under the College of Education Studies through the Faculty of Science and Technology Education, Department of Mathematics and ICT Education. 

The programmes are intended to strengthen the academic and professional capacity of teachers and other professionals pursuing advanced studies in Mathematics and ICT education.

The admission package covers postgraduate programmes designed to support career progression, research development, and specialised training within the education sector.

Programmes Available Under the 2026 Sandwich Admission

The university is offering the following programmes:

•Master of Education (M.Ed Mathematics)

•Master of Education (M.Ed ICT)

•MPhil Mathematics Education Top-Up Programme

•MPhil ICT Education Top-Up Programme

These programmes provide opportunities for teachers and education professionals seeking further academic advancement.

Admission Requirements for M.Ed Mathematics

Applicants seeking admission into the Master of Education in Mathematics must satisfy the stated academic requirements.

Eligible applicants include:

•Holders of Bachelor of Education (Mathematics) certificates.

•Holders of Bachelor of Education (Basic Education) with Mathematics specialisation.

•Applicants with at least a Second Class Lower division from a recognised university in the relevant area.

The programme focuses on enhancing knowledge in mathematics education, curriculum development, instructional methods, and related areas.

Entry Requirements for M.Ed ICT

Applicants applying for the Master of Education in ICT are expected to possess:

•A Bachelor of Education degree (B.Ed), or

•Other bachelor’s degrees such as B.A., B.Sc., B.Com, BMS and related qualifications with at least Second Class Honours together with a Diploma in Education.

The programme aims to equip participants with advanced knowledge in educational technology, ICT integration, and digital teaching practices.

The programme is open to:

MPhil Top-Up Admission Requirements

UCC has also introduced MPhil top-up pathways for candidates interested in Mathematics Education and ICT Education.

•Possess an M.Ed qualification in the relevant field.

•Obtain a minimum CGPA of 2.5 in the M.Ed coursework.

•Have not more than one “C” grade throughout the coursework.

•Secure at least a grade “B” in Research Methods.

These conditions are intended to ensure that candidates admitted into the research-based programmes possess the required academic background.
