GES Releases 2026/2027 Academic Calendar and Confirms 2027 BECE Dates
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has made public the full structure of the 2026/2027 academic year for basic schools, covering Kindergarten, Primary, and Junior High levels.
The announcement, released on May 6, 2026, provides a detailed breakdown of term dates, holidays, and key academic activities, including the official timetable for the 2027 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
A key highlight of the calendar is the confirmation of the 2027 BECE period, which will run from Wednesday, 5th May to Wednesday, 12th May, 2027. This examination continues to remain a major milestone for final-year Junior High School learners across the country.
The Service also noted that the upcoming BECE will mark the fourth administration under the revised curriculum. In addition, it will be the first time the text Beacon of Light is introduced as the prescribed literature material for candidates.
Schools are reminded to adhere strictly to the approved academic schedule, including public holidays and the mandatory two-day midterm breaks each term.
