The National Teaching Council in partnership with the Ghana National Association of Teachers has officially opened applications for the 2026 Ghana Teacher Prize. 

This initiative is aimed at recognising and celebrating teachers who demonstrate exceptional commitment and impact within the classroom and beyond.

Aim of the Award Scheme

The Ghana Teacher Prize is designed to acknowledge excellence in teaching and to promote high professional standards across the education sector. It highlights the significant role teachers play in shaping learners and contributing to national development, while also encouraging innovation and dedication within the profession.

Who Can Apply

The opportunity is open to trained and licensed teachers working at the pre-tertiary level in both public and private schools. Applicants are expected to have a minimum of five years of teaching experience.

In addition to classroom teachers, individuals serving in educational leadership positions and other school-related roles may also submit applications under the appropriate categories, provided they meet the stated requirements.

Categories of Awards

The Ghana Teacher Prize features several categories to include the different roles in the education sector. These categories are:
