Applications for postgraduate studies at University of Ghana are currently open for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The School of Graduate Studies is inviting qualified applicants, including working professionals, researchers, and individuals pursuing academic careers, to apply for various Master’s, MPhil, and PhD programmes. The application window, which opened in February 2026, remains active, giving prospective students sufficient time to prepare and submit strong applications.
Available Programmes
The university offers a wide range of accredited postgraduate programmes across several colleges, including:

General Admission Requirements
For Master’s and MPhil Programmes:
Applicants must possess a good first degree from a recognised university, typically at least a Second Class Lower division (or GPA of 2.0 and above). Candidates with a Third Class may still be considered if they have relevant professional experience. Certain programmes may also require applicants to pass an entrance examination or attend an interview.
For PhD Programmes:
Applicants are expected to hold a relevant Master’s degree. In some cases, individuals with strong undergraduate qualifications may be admitted but will first complete Level 600 Master’s coursework before progressing. International applicants must have their qualifications assessed and may be required to demonstrate English proficiency.

Graduates of the university are typically required to submit only their certificate unless they have been issued a new student identification number.
Application Process
For Applicants in Ghana:
Purchase an e-voucher from designated banks such as GCB Bank, Ecobank, Zenith Bank, Access Bank, and others. After obtaining the voucher, visit the official admissions portal https://apply.ug.edu.gh/admissions/graduate/login complete the application form, upload all required documents, and submit.
For International Applicants and Ghanaians Abroad:
Applicants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee before accessing the international admissions portal to complete and submit their application.
Tip: It is advisable to keep copies of all submitted documents, including voucher details, as these may be needed to access admission results later.
